About the band
Formed in 2008, the award winning Blue Rock'n Grass has been providing great entertainment for almost 7 years. Blue Rock'n Grass always provides a great show with a distinct sound like no other band on the circuit.

Meet the band:












Josh Brown - Lead guitar and Vocals
Born & raised near Summersville, WV, Josh has become one of the finest guitar pickers you can image. His lead vocals put chills down your spine. At a very young age, Josh began picking mandolin and soon took up guitar, banjo, bass, and fiddle. Before joining Blue Rock'n Grass, Josh was a member of a notable group of musicians called Laurel Creek Bluegrass Band.









Ron Truman - Bass
From Clay, WV, Truman started playing bluegrass at an early age. When he was 5, he began playing rhythm guitar. From there Ron moved on to mandolin and eventually found his calling on the upright bass. Ron bleeds bluegrass and pours his heart and soul into every song. Ron says the artists who have influenced him most on his instrument are Jason Moore, Todd Phillips, and Barry Bales. Ron joined Blue Rock'n Grass in 2013 and says this has been the best music decision he has ever made.










Matt Hiser - Harmony vocals, Mandolin
Founding Member, Matt, has bluegrass music running through his veins. He began playing mandolin when he was 8 years old in Fayette County, West Virginia. His major musical influences were his Dad who played the banjo, and his Mom on bass. For many years he tagged along playing in the family band "Family Heritage". Matt says that Wayne Benson, Dempsey Young and Sam Bush are the mandolin players who have influenced him most on the instrument. He also plays banjo and guitar, and enjoys working in his recording studio. In 2011, Matt was named the State Mandolin Champion of West Virginia and has been invited to provide music workshops for the West Virginia Culture Center. He has performed in the past with Sarah Scott & Lost Highway, Sarah Allison Turner and Jonathan Buckner & Chosen Road. He joined Cumberland Gap Connection in April of 2013 and since has been awarded the opportunities to perform at the MAC and as an IBMA Showcase Artist. Matt’s 20 years of experience on mandolin is evident once he starts playing, and his name is sure to be one that many bluegrass fans will become very familiar with in the future.









Nessie Hunt - Vocals, Banjo
Blessed to have grown up around so many wonderful musicians in and around Southwest Virginia. Born and raised in Marion Va, Nessie lived and breathed Bluegrass. Nessie picked up on music at the ripe ole age of 13. She started playing the upright bass and guitar before realizing her true talent lied in the banjo and singing. Nessie has helped out many bands over the her years such as Jennifer Lilly Band, Jeff Brown & Still Lonesome and The Stacy Grubb Band as a member of Alan Johnston & South 52. Nessie has many ribbon winnings at Fiddlers Convention around North Carolina and Virginia also West Virginia. Nessie is very excited to make many more memories with Blue Rock'n Grass. Nessie's influences and hero's are her Dad, Jack Sykes, Earl Scruggs, JD Crowe, Jim Mills, Sammy Shelor and Terry Baucom. Nessie is also a founding member of Blue Rock'n Grass.







Ronnie Hunt - Vocals, Guitar
Ronnie grew up in McDowell Co. West Virginia. At age 16, he took a strong interest in bluegrass guitar. Later picking up the mandolin and playing with a family group called the "Bluegrass Pioneer's". Ronnie has many fond memories of the great bands that he's had the privilege to be apart of such as "Bluegrass Shadows", "The Sand River Bluegrass Band", "Revived", and last but not least Sarah Scott & Lost Highway. Needless to say Ronnie is a pioneer in the bluegrass industry. Strong vocal skills and great rhythm playing, he is a driving force and a great asset to the band. Ronnie is a founding member of Blue Rock'n Grass.
